Hello Aaron,
Your discussion post regarding the Patriot Act is significantly informative, in terms of the critical aspects, which you have described subjectively. I really appreciate and respect your opinions about the Patriot Act and I do agree with your point that it is good to secure our society. However, I also believe that if an individual is acting and conducting lawfully, then he must not be bothered by any threat of surveillance, because the surveillance will not breach their liberties of fundamental rights, but it will be focused on the threats of terrorism, primarily, which is one of the biggest global problem (Ivers, 2013).
Hello Paul,
Your discussion post in informatively precise and effective in its conversion of idea. You have described the Patriot Act in terms of terrorism, on which I completely have consent with you. Terrorism is critically the gravest threat to our society, for which this act is sufficient to be implemented. However, the concern of breaching rights or violating laws, does not sufficiently comply with this act, as compared to the control over security, especially from the threat of terrorism. However, I will have to disagree with your opinion because the surveillance will not breach their liberties of fundamental rights, but it will be focused on the threats of terrorism, primarily, which is one of the biggest global problem (Ivers, 2013).
Hello Sonia,
You discussion post for this week's question is impressive, as you have rationally delivered your point of view, in the light of evidences. I also agree with your point that marijuana must not be banned if it is being utilized for medical purposes. However, as far as the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution is concerned, then it does posses the right to ban marijuana. It is because this clause has the legal provision that any substance, which is harmful or insufficient for the welfare of public, can be banned. It illuminates that the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution has the right to ban marijuana (Ivers, 2013).
Hello Thomanique,
Your discussion post is commendable and I really appreciate your opinion and action, which you have mentioned in your final sentence. I completely agree with your point that marijuana must be utilized for medical purposes, and its use must be comprehended in terms of developing medicines. However, its use for other non-medical purposes also affects negatively to the society and the public order. As you have mentioned in your post that it can prevent you from accomplishing many things in life, this is the reason why it has been banned, along with the fact that the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution has the right to ban marijuana (Ivers, 2013).
