Introduction

A number of incidences and events in history are known to have vast impact on the lives and lifestyles of certain classes and groups of people, with some of them being positive while others are negative and depressing. A number of injustices have been done to certain groups and classes, mainly on the basis of their color, cast and social status and the issues of African American slaves are included in the same category. It should be taken into account that the era of slavery is counted as the one of the worst era in the history of mankind and serves as a lesson for the future generations to refrain from the practice. The harsh practices and mistreatments with the slaves led to the various movements and actions which finally allowed abolition of slavery, however, the incidences and the major events of the era of slavery are still discussed to get an idea about the ways and manners in which human rights have been manipulated and human beings are subjugated. The following paragraphs highlight the events and incidences of the era of plantation slavery, highlighting their major characteristics and focusing on the treatment done to the slaves during that era:

Plantation could be defined as long and artificially made forest, in which crops are grown for the purpose of sale instead of local consumption, and thus the term is mainly used to describe the crops grown on large scale for the commercial purpose.
