The last several years have considered significant improvements in our realizing of isoprene production and emission. Isoprene is developed by the excretion of pyrophosphate from DMAPP. Because there is no mechanism for storage of isoprene in leaves and isoprene pressure exerted by a vapour within the leaf remains beneath saturation, the emission rate equals the rate of isoprene biosynthesis.
