The definition of plagiarism can be stated as taking and making use of others writing, discoveries and their ideas as their own. Hence it has two main pointers which include firstly you take somebody else's work and next use it for yourself. There is a slight alteration that helps in changing the entire definition of plagiarism which that if you place references appropriately then the work is not considered plagiarized.
Students generally tend to plagiarize as they are tired of typing data themselves, or due to shortage in time they simply copy paste or do not reference it. In order to save time, and at times they do it because they know they will not be able toil produce a much better article or assignment. Further within certain cultures plagiarism is considered acceptable for students. (Carroll, 2002)

Some students end up plagiarizing because they do not know actually they are plagiarizing. This is where the concept of intentional comes and unintentional plagiarism arises. Plagiarism can be either intentional or unintentional. Intentional plagiarism is what anyone can say which are copy and then pasting somebody else's original work and labeling it as yours. This is done for the same reasons as mentioned above. Examples include taking your fellow student work or from the internet taking an article or making am assignment by combining various journals and stating it as yours. (Skom, 1986)
Plagiarism that is unintentional is the term used when children that are studding academically are not aware what they are doing comes under the category of plagiarism.
