Physical Protection System

Introduction

When prevention is difficult for any reason, (technical, economic, human) is desirable for, a potential attack detected as soon as possible to minimize its effects. Although the detection, of problems, usually unauthorized physical access, involving technical means such as surveillance cameras or alarms closed circuit, in more normal effort to detect these threats must focus on people using the systems and; which related without using some form with them the same thing happens with logical security: it is to see all the protection as a chain that fails if it fails its weakest link. We must be aware that physical security is too important to ignore: a thief who steals a computer to sell, a fire or a pirate who seamlessly access the operating room. We can do much more damage than an intruder tries to remotely connect to an unauthorized machine, no matter we use the most advanced encryption to connect to our servers; and we have defined a policy of very restrictive firewalling, if we take into account physical factors, these efforts to protect our information will be useless (Zartman, 1995).

Basic components of security

Perhaps the problems of the environment are the most common work related to the electrical system that powers our computers, short circuits, power surges, outages daily flow. Threaten the integrity of both our hardware and data stored or flowing through it. The less common in modern plants are power surges, known as 'spikes' because they usually last a little: for a few fractions of a second voltage that gets a team rises to exceed the allowable limit that the machine supports. Typically, these peaks only affect the hardware or data with which most computers installed fuses, fuse elements to a power surge and no longer conduct current, causing the machine to stay off. Provide fuse or not to protect the team (normally that does have) an effective and inexpensive is to use earth connections to further ensure the integrity, these mechanisms prevent the problems of diverting excess voltage current to the ground a room or building, or simply to any place with zero voltage. A single ground can be a good conductor connected to the chassis of the equipment to protect and a solid bar, also conductive, which is input as possible on the floor, the installation cost is small, especially when compared with the losses that would ...
