Phonology, Morphology, Sentence Structure and Meaning

Introduction

Linguistics is the scientific study of the different area of linguistics which mainly consists of phonology morphology, sentence structure, semantics, pragmatics and sentence meaning (Trask, 2004, p. 50- 74). This linguistic system assists in analysis of the written text or speaking proficiency. This system generally involves the patterns which assist in better interpretation of the language with the help- of proper rules of grammar or the system in the phonological system. In the written texts it is generally associated with the proper patterns of using the rule based grammatical system and on the basis of phonological patterns (O'Grady, et.al. 1997, P. 23-47). The study of language is the most important aspect as it assists in better understanding of the communication process, either written or oral. There are various problems associated with the linguistics pattern and this needs to look for the leaks in the communication pattern.

Thesis Statement

Linguistics involves the study of phonology, morphology, sentence structure and meaning.

Phonology

Phonology is the study of sound and it involves the study of the human language (Crystal, 2010, p. 11-27). It is generally deals with the study of phonemes and the organs which are included in the sound system. It is generally associated with the speech sounds and allophones for example in English there are 38 sounds. This leads to the learning of the vowel system and the arrangement of the linguistic segments. This involves the pattern of using syntactic constituent and provides the linear organization of these patterns .

This deals with the system of sound combination and phoneme structure. The phonologists mainly deal with the arrangement of these phonemes in the speech system. The most important aspect in the study of language is the different pattern of different accents which affects the patterns of stress in language (2008, Nathan, p.24). It also assists in resolving the problem of interpretation in different language and sound system. These differences in the accents and phonological patterns are generally on the basis of the articulation due to the different ethnic and cultural background.

Phonological Process that Cause Surface Alternation

Phonological process is the system which is associated with the difference in the phonological system and pattern. This generally occurs on the basis of the difference in the language due to the regions, or due to any problem with the articulation in the vocal system. In most of the cases it deals with the system of process in dealing with the pattern and process of the linguistics. It generally deals with the structure and system of the language. For example in English there is specific pronunciation for the word 'Kitchen' as /k?t??n/, but in the Welsh accent ...
