Research Questions

These questions provide the basic criteria and direction to researcher for investigating a particular aspect of the research area. Research questions help a great deal in identifying those aspect of the research topic that do not have enough information or knowledge about them and a thorough research on these areas or aspect is deemed beneficial for the society (Kothari, 2004).

Hypothesis

The hypothesis can be understood as an initial account of the research study that is to be conducted aiming at answering some research questions. In other words, it is a process through which the researcher predicts or expects the things to be done in particular way under some particular conditions (Booth, et al. 1995). The prediction could be set by reviewing the literature already available on the research subject (Kothari, 2004).

Alternative and Null Hypothesis

The alternative hypothesis is used to demonstrate a relationship between the two variables while also identifying the ways in which those variables differ from each other. Null hypothesis, on the other hand, demonstrates the relation of two linked variables (Booth, et al. 1995).

Process to refine and narrow the scope of the research question and hypothesis

When proposing a research, it is the most fundamental task to conceptualize and select a research topic about which the research is to be undertaken, with preference should be given to subject, to which the researcher have particular interest and that is deemed beneficial for the society or, at least, a particular segment or group of the society. It must also be considered that research topic should be feasible taking into account the limitations of the research (Booth, et al. 1995: Kothari, 2004).

Ethical Issues

Certain ethical issues that pertain to the subject and nature of the research should be taken into account when undertaking a research project. For instance, if the research involves taking animals as subject, the rules defined by the constitution or the government regarding the treatment of animals must be observed while conducting the research experiments and all the details of the research subjects and selected methodology should be made public (Booth, et al. 1995).

Research designs, methodologies, analysis, and measurement strategies

Quantitative Research

The quantitative research methods are employed where quantity plays a more significant role than the quality. In this type of research, the research takes into account the information not only related to a particular group or segment, rather it considers the entire range of possible subjects, thereby incorporating the numerical and statistical methods into the research (Booth, et al. 1995).

Qualitative Research

The qualitative research methodology is one of popular research methodologies especially in the research subjects related to the health care (Patton & Patton, 2001). In this type of research methodology, one of the main objectives of the researcher is to identify and explain a particular phenomenon by means of conducting research experiments on subjects that cannot be evaluated using quantities approach. This type of methodology can be varied in accordance with the specific requirements of the research being conducted and type of the ...
