Argument and Critical Thought

The art of making decision based on sound reasoning is critical thinking. Critical thinking about anything helps you to understand things in a broader perspective through deliberate, detailed, interpretive, and through critical aspects on any issue. It generates ideas with in a person which help him to bring revolution in the world around him.

Argument is a set of claims which you deliver on basis of reasoning for what you believe. In this way arguments are related to critical thinking. The critical thoughts are delivered through correct evaluation of thoughts of others and delivery of argument representing your thoughts. Argument is done when someone is clear in his thoughts and willing to gain confidence of others through justifying own points in relation to the original thought.

A good critical observer would always observe thing in depth and evaluate them in form of strong arguments to justify his views. Good critical observer will subject his views to critical analysis and produce better arguments as a result of this analysis. Critical thinking represents self reflective approach of a person as he merely analyzes the condition without being biased (Rainbolt, 2011).

Evaluation of an argument comprises of three parts: pre evaluation, evaluation and acceptance or rejection of an argument. Pre evaluation is based on stipulations used in a good faith. However focus has to be kept on the truth in the subject. Stipulations are temporarily feasible and worthwhile but ultimate concern should be a truth.

Evaluation of arguments in term of valid basic and understandable reasoning and logical point of views must be considered. Arguments can be supported through facts but facts themselves are not arguments. Acceptance and rejection of an argument is not based on sympathy of reader but is based on buttress with high proves.

Do not alter and deform the evidence by changing the material and misquoting the sources in accordance with your argument. Do not ignore any accredited and justifiable argument, just to support your own argument (Mezo Richard E, 1999).

Co-Orientation View of Argument

Co orientation of an argument depends on various perspectives on an argumentation. Arguments perspectives are rhetorical, dialectical and logical. Rhetorical helps us to evaluate the argument as a natural process of communication. Dialectic represents a cooperative method for critical decision making. Logic evaluates argument as a product obtained from authentic argues. These argumentative perspectives help in explanations of various decision making strategies, insert standards for rational judgments. Hence co orientation includes effective speech in an argument, critical analysis and argumentation and profound judgments.

These co orientation perspectives have theoretical as well as descriptive dimensions, which help the writer to argue better about its claims. The rhetoric use is for the purpose of inducement, and the rhetoric perspective use is during decision making conditions. This refers to conditions where selection is between the alternatives and where both sides have a good enough reason.
