Introduction
A Personality Controlled Electronic Health Record or PCEHR is a safe and secured record that is designed to keep the medical history and background of patient. The information saved in this system is shared via connected system. The technology of PCEHR facilitates medical professionals to have summarized information of patients' just on one single page or tab obtained by a group of other medical networks. This information is accessible to registered patients and medical related officials. The information and stored data would assist medical professionals in prescribing adequate medication and making better health related decisions for patients. The information saved in this system can be edited and updated as the process of medication and treatment continues throughout (Nehta, 2013, n.d.). It allows everyone to get a control over his or her personal medical records. This system assists elders to give control over their records and to their nominees for convenience. Furthermore it also facilitates patients to reedit and refill their information in the electronic record and also provide the advantage any additional guidelines for medical professionals to follow while treating them. The PCEHR system and process should be promoted and its usage should be demonstrated to people via workshops or seminars in order to explain its advantages to elderly patients and healthcare providers.
The primary aim of this research paper is to give a brief overview of the advantages of PCEHR particularly for the group of elderly patients that are admitted in emergency unit having in critical condition and require medical care immediately. The paper also sheds light on the use of PCEHR in provision of convenience and ease at handling the medical information of patients admitted in ED.
Discussion
The primary need of this system was diagnosed as a result of restricted access to medical health related information to patients. The information related to health and medication is mostly scattered and largely found on set of papers as prescribed and written by every other health care provider. Not every other health care provider has complete information related to health of patient and treatment in past and present. PCEHR can be effectively used in case of patients that are admitted in hospital particularly in emergency departments as a result of chronic illness such as heart attack, trauma, brain injury, accident, asthma attack etc. And that these patients are at high risk of death or serious condition is usually and most probably admitted to hospitals or medical care providers around the point of incidence. All of these situations make it quite difficult for medical representatives to have a detailed analysis of patient's past medical background to take additional precautions and give adequate treatment. At this stage the importance of PCEHR or ...
