Personal Statement

Nursing is a diverse and challenging career. I truly believe that nursing is the right career for me. For me, nursing is an art. According my opinions, nursing is an occupation for people who are practical and conscientious.

The role of nursing is changing rapidly in the National Health Service (NHS). Now, there are more opportunities for nurses to take responsibility for patient care. There are also opportunities for nurses to pursue specialization in diverse areas for instance intensive care, treatment, and other specialties.

In the United States, the nursing workforce comprises registered nurses and licensed practice nurses. The nursing workforce also includes assistants such as aides, personal care attendants, and others. The nursing profession is the largest healthcare profession in the United States. Nurses are involved in nearly every facet of the healthcare delivery system (Auerbach et al, 2003).

The complex and uncertain healthcare environment of the United States has created diverse challenges in the nursing practice. There are different trends that can affect the future of nursing practice in the next twenty years. I really believe that all nurses should prepare themselves to meet all these challenges. The definition of health is gradually broadening to include wellness and risk reduction. The focus of changing healthcare system is to promote health and prevent illness. With the passage of time, there is an increase in the number of people who are living with chronic diseases. A part from this, obesity has also become a crucial health problem. I would also like to add that the fight to stop tobacco use is equally important to the public health. The threats of pandemic and bioterrorism have created a new dimension to the need of public health.
