Personal Statement

Since childhood, I have always loved music. I always involved myself in listening to music. In addition, I also enjoyed watching music videos on the television. However, my enthusiasm in music mostly revolved around talking about it. Therefore, I decided to work in the radio industry because this is the sector where I can acquire skills and learn about music. Furthermore, radio industry has been growing in the last 2 years, which promises to provide lucrative opportunities to music lovers like me. There are a number of radio stations, which I like. These radio stations range from BBC Radio 1 to TalkSport. Moreover, I also love listening to KROQ, which is an American station. The primary reason behind listening to these stations is to acquire skills pertaining to presentation and personality.

After the completion of my Gcse's, I started working for Kerrang! Radio and gained valuable experience for the week. As I worked there, I was able to acquire significant skills and knowledge about working in a radio station. Furthermore, I requested the management to grant me another week for work. Later, as the week progressed, the management at the radio station was kind enough to offer me a job. According to this job, I had to produce the ten to midnight show, Mondays to Thursdays. I have been working with this radio station since September 2010, which is in Birmingham. Moreover, I was also able to work on the pre-recorded show from 5pm-6:30 pm. I have been doing this show since September 2010. In addition, my portfolio of work in this radio station also involves a breakfast show when Loz Guest has been covering. Furthermore, I also gained valuable experience while producing Keith Kliendfelt on the midday show when he covered Daniel Perry for two days in 2010.

There are various responsibilities, which I have to take as a producer. There are a number of aspects of radio, which I have experienced. These aspects range from playing listing the Saturday Night Live Show, to editing interviews with names such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Foo Fighters on the Dalet software.

It is essential to have passion and love for what you do as a profession (Hausman, 2010). There can be a huge impact on the radio station if a person performs his task up to the mark. The air business requires that the show is perfect and meets the expectations of the audience. In addition, one needs to remember that the audience and the listeners are the ones who pay a station's bills. A person, who wants to pursue his career in the radio business as a producer, needs to have the ability to hear the voice by way of a resume tape (Gilmurray, 2010).
