My initial interest in medicine was sparked by my brother suffering from a brain tumour, a condition that had a profound effect on the lives of each member of my family. I learned a great deal about his illness and treatment and gained a remarkable insight into the perspectives of the patient, family and caretakers. This unique experience combined with my fascination, to understand the complexities of the human body affirmed my decision to study medicine.
