Personal Statement

Modern medicines are very strong medicines which provides cure to patients in a very short period of time. However, in order to use these medicines and the way of using them is taught by the pharmacists who play a significant role in medical staff. They are the ones who are focused for all types of knowledge and they also have a commitment towards the patients and clients that they have to serve for their well being. In order to explain why I have chosen pharmacy as my profession will be discussed below.

In order to discuss why I have chosen my profession to be a pharmacist, it is first necessary to explain what does a pharmacist do and my role in contemporary society. The historical model that medical practitioners diagnose diseases and prescribe medicine while pharmacists compound and dispense medicines continues to be the expectation of most medical doctors and indeed the general public. However, the role of the pharmacist at present is a dynamic and evolving one. The traditional roles of the pharmacist include: compounding, preparing and dispensing drugs taking medication histories and maintaining patient drug profiles to assess patients' drug therapy for possible interactions with current medications and health conditions etc.

I have always had a passion for Chemistry and Biology since I started my high school. Pharmacy has always fascinated me as I loved to see how people helped different patients by providing them appropriate medicines and diagnosis. Pharmacy might be my favorite profession to opt for because it is somehow related with biology and chemistry and as I discussed earlier that both chemistry and biology are my strengths.

Pharmacists are no more the pharmacists of the earlier time where they did not helped the patients and instead worked as just assistant. Today, pharmacists are much more than that as they have become more involved with the community and its members, and are also actively involved with patients and their issues in the field of medical. When I was a child, I always questioned my parents about different medications that they used to consume and was always surprised by how a small amount of chemical can changed the whole response system of the body making an individual healthy as before.
