Medical School Personal Statement

My name is [YOUR NAME]. I am an International student, as my home country is Ghana. I work full time to support my education, due to which I may have a low GPA. I have lived 15 years in Ghana. Since childhood I have seen people suffering and dying in Ghana due to lack of health care system. Since ever, I have a dream to serve humanity, get admission in a medical school and go back to my country and build hospitals. I want to provide best healthcare facilities to poor people in Ghana. I want to be a comforter, care provider, and healer for patients. Further, I want to make patients comfortable, take good care of them and provide them emotional and moral support in dealing with illness. A caring medical professional has got the appropriate training to have a potential to bring about positive change in the health of a patient (Gardner, 2004).

Further, poverty has also hindered the development of health care. The lack of health care professionals is another major problem in responding to this growing burden of communicable diseases. Therefore there is an urgent need for cost-effective strategies for the prevention of diseases, detection of diseases and control. To address the acute shortage of health care professionals and to increase health care delivery, the health ministry of Ghana needs professionals but unfortunately, there are not enough health workers.

I am very calm, outgoing, energetic, and fun to be around with; i get very happy to see others happy. I love working with people. It is not only Ghana that I want to work ...
