Introduction

The aim of the paper is to assess the personal skills related to communication and social networking skills. The main points discussed in this essay will be related to the face-to-face and online skills. Other than two skills areas will be discussed which needs improvement. Later, the Walden services and courses will be discussed. In the end, the personal network will be analyzed. Personal skills vary from individual to individual. Even with learning and experience, the personal skills can be changed and improved. The personal skills are assessed and evaluated in this study against the teachings and courses of Walden University. The paper involves my assessment of personal skills and highlights the key areas where I can improve my skills. The skills are related to the communication and social networking skills.

Communication Skills

This section will discuss the online and face-to-face communication skills. My weakness in this area lies in the ability to communicate in a professional manner through online and face-to-face means. This is important in the communication area because I need to understand what is being communicated and make the other party understand what I am communicating. Without this understanding of communication, my communication will be just words and meaningless. As every communication process has a receiving and transmitting section, therefore according to it, I need to work on my receiving skills. I need to work on my listening skills where I need to practice my mind to process what is being heard into meaningful communication. This can cause me problem as I can easily what is being said and could be of utmost importance. All courses at Walden University will help me improve in my skills. This is because hearing lectures into listening and understand the context will be required from my side. Also, participating in class will help me in the practice of making the other party understand of the context of my communication. Same goes for the online communication where appropriate words have to be chosen to deliver the right message.

Other Skills

The other two skills which I need to work on are social networking skills, time management skills and technology/computer skills. I personally feel that I need to work on these three areas a lot. Social networking skills are the biggest improvement area required from my side. Although, I usually use social networking sites on daily basis but I lack the proper and professional use of social networking sites. Therefore, I need to improve the way I use them. Other time I spend in social networking sites is to play games. It is required that my profile be made known as per the professional requirements. I require participating in the social functions and making friends out of my colleagues to increase my social circle.
