Personal Narrative on Crossroads

Introduction

Life is all about making decisions. At every step and incident in our life, we have to choose between the certain options available to us. However, there are some decisions that are perhaps the most crucial in our lives in the context that these decisions will have a very strong impact on our personality and our overall lives. I have been through such a situation where an ultimate final decision was inevitable and I had to choose between the possibilities. The dilemma took place in my high school year when I got involved in certain illegal and unethical practices as a result of my peer pressure. The most fundamental lesson that I have learned from this chapter in my life is that a true friend will never support an individual for committing any wrong deed.

Discussion

A teenage in his high school is young and irrational and hence more vulnerable to various negative yet powerful influences. I can understand this because I have obviously been through that phase. It was in the beginning of my high school when my best friend left the school as his family was moving out of town. Alone and bored, I was in search of a new set of friends. A group of five boys from another section, who were considered as the coolest and richest amongst my classmates, approached me one day and asked me to join their group. They all seemed nice and decent. Hence, I agreed and in fact, I was glad that I finally have a group of well-behaved boys as my company.
