Introduction

This paper intends to formulate a personal learning log by identifying and explaining the benefits of inter professional practice in health and social care delivery. Further, it discusses about the professional roles and the professional principles in relation to health and social care provision. This paper reflects on the skills that are required for collaborative learning and explain how they may be applied in practice.

This paper is divided in to 2 parts; part A and part B. In part A, it shall identify and explain the benefits of inter-professional practice in health and social care delivery, and also the benefits of inter professional practice. Further, it discusses that how shall this will impact on both staff and patient/service users in the delivery of health and social care. It describes different professional roles and the professional principles in relation to the health and social care provision with examples. In addition to this, it outlines that how patient experiences may be enhanced by inter professional working of health and social care delivery.

Moreover, in part B section it reflects on the skills that are required for collaborative learning and it explains how they may be applied in practice. To gain better insight over the reflection Marks-Maran & Rose's reflective cycle (1997) is used to reflect specifically on the skills used in the classroom to learn collaboratively with the student peers.

The first stage in Marks-Maran & Rose's reflective cycle (1997) explores the incident and details of what happened. Further, second stage examines the feelings that results from the occurrence of the incident. In the third stage, a theory is formulated regarding the incident, in light of the current knowledge. In the fourth and last stage, conclusion is drawn as to what has been learnt from the incident and how it shall impact the future course of actions.

Part A

Learning Outcome 1:

This shall identify and explain the benefits of inter-professional practice in health and social care delivery, and also the benefits of inter professional practice. Further, it discusses that how shall this will impact on both staff and patient/service users in the delivery of health and social care.

According to Barr the idea of inter professional working enables various beneficial factors to remit that outside one's league, and further it enable the professionals to share their knowledge, experience and opportunities. It has been reported that this has been evident that professionals have started experiencing increased confidence and improved job satisfaction (studentnurse.org.uk). Barr also expresses his opinions that inter professional practice enables to have a learning experience in collaboration, which holds great significance (studentnurse.org.uk).

Further another scholar McWilliam suggests that inter professional learning and coordination in a collaborative way can be extremely challenging in a work place. Further, it is said that due to some misunderstandings of the health care authorities regarding the education, policies, and research on the inter professional working is not delivered to the patient within the surroundings of the hospitals.
