The assessment of students learning skills and knowledge is considered to be a proactive approach at present contemporary education. To evaluate and assess the performances of the student's performance assessments plans are developed by teachers. These plans facilitate them to evaluate higher order thinking and the attainment of knowledge and skills required by students to meet up the requirements of the contemporary workplace successfully.

The performance assessment plans facilitates teachers to assess students performances in light of the knowledge acquired in the classroom settings. These assessments can be of any form, it can range from pencil and paper test to observing and evaluating the performance of the learner to evaluating the portfolio of work prepared by students. Most of the assessments are based on achievement tests.

Role of Performance Assessment in Enhancing Learner's Progress

Performance assessment plays a significant role in the student's literacy as it helps the learner evaluate how much information and knowledge he has been able to grasp and teachers are able to evaluate how the much the learner has been able to comprehend from the knowledge delivered to him in the classroom settings. Thus, performances assessments help answer questions related to the learner and his learning capability (Abedi, 2010).

Teachers can make appropriate and professional evaluations on the performance of students in the classroom settings. These evaluation and assessment can be made in teaching and learning sessions both consciously and unconsciously. Performance assessment helps teachers make these professional assessments and communicating the judgment in the form of feedback. The main objective of these assessments plans is to evaluate the quality of work and performance of every individual and grade the learning of these students (Jones, 2005).

This helps in enhancing the progress and learning capabilities of students. The feedback provided by teachers to students helps students know their progress and how much information they were able to comprehend successfully. The feedback provided by the teachers depends upon the receiving of information by the learner and how responsive the learner is in regards with the received knowledge (Jones, 2005).

Need To Develop Performance Assessment Plan

At present, education system has adopted ways to enhance learning capabilities of students to meet the challenging requirements of 21st century workplace. Therefore, the educational institutions are motivated to learn about students learning and assess their learning and development continuously (Maki, 2002). Effective assessment is a systematic attempt and learner centered which helps teachers to provide appropriate feedback to learners that help learner enhance their knowledge and skills.

Development of Performance Assessment Plan

The assessment plan is developed to assist teachers and other faculty members to develop, manage, sustain and implement different types of assessment practices to evaluate and assess the learning capabilities of learner.
