Project Execution Plan

Introduction

The project execution plan is the core document for the management of a project. It is a statement of policies and procedures defined by the project director, although usually developed by the project manager for the project sponsor's approval. It sets out in a structured format the project scope, objectives and relative priorities. (Process Protocol Guide)

 To efficiently develop Project Execution Plan strategies and related plans for management, it is necessary to assist a PEP improvement session, where the main project members meet to discuss the scope and objectives of the project effort. Throughout the meeting, alignment and input, and the appropriate context would be established and main decisions and implementation criteria would be recognized to frame out the implementation of the project. The secondary elements of the Project Execution Plan should be integrated, complete and supportive of each other in order to figure adequate operational limitations for the project. The Project Execution Plan is an established finest managing practice in the Project Management industry and should be created for all projects to be appropriate and provide as an existing strategy during the project life cycle.

Project Scope includes objectives, constraints, elements, design basis, resource requirements, risks and constraints, and profiles, etc. (Idrus, 2002)

 The Project Execution Plan is a complete manuscript explaining the project and its mechanism. Project Execution Plan also describes how the supervising team would execute and drive the job to successfully finish the assignment and its numerous diverse objectives. (Lauri, 2001)

Literature review

PEP contains in a planned format the objectives, project scope, milestones, communication plan, Project change control procedures and other main plan information. (Lauri, 2001)

Walker said that, “Construction Project Management is the planning, control and coordination of a project from conception to completion (including commissioning) on behalf of a client. It is concerned with the identification of the client's objectives in terms of utility, function, quality, time and cost, and the establishment of relationships between resources. The integration, monitoring and control of the contributions to the project and their output, and the evaluation and selection of alternatives in pursuit of the client's satisfaction with the project outcome are fundamental aspects of Project Management.”
