Introduction

This study intends to accentuate the societal and developmental perspectives relating to the diversified people living in a community. The study aims at describing the human development, growth and behavior in relation with the mental health issues, well being and disability concerns.

The people with the learning disabilities are unique in every aspect whether it is their like, dislike or opinions but they possess the same rights as everyone else has. It is a common and a lifelong condition in the United Kingdom which cannot be included in disease or illness. The people with such disorder have the severe impairment of intelligence, adaptive functioning and other developmental problems (Royal College of Nursing, 2007). The concept of learning disability focuses on the physical as well as social difficulties encountered by the person as a consequence of being a person with the learning disability. Such people have the mutilation of intellectual ability with the low social functioning usually have the IQ score of less than 70 (Department of Health, 2001). According to Swain et al. (2004) the person with such impairments faces a great deal of problems and the social interaction is one of them which adversely affects the person in a negative way. The number of people with the learning disability is found at the hike in United Kingdom. According to the statistical record of Government Actuary's Department that the population of such people is continuously at rise from 50.9 million in 2007 to 52 million in 2012 and expected to reach at 53.5 million in 2017 and 56 million in 2027 (Government Actuary's Department, 2012).

The study aims at extenuating the case of 34 years old man Robert, suffering with the learning disability. However, Robert has learned good life skills to move on with the life but he still faces issues with the social interactions which indicate his strain and autism spectrum. He has been attending the Remploy Factory for the last thirteen years but recently he heard the news of closing down the factory. Now he needs to consider obtaining a new job in the open market but the primary issue is that he has no social life which may hinder him obtaining a new job.

Discussion

The people with the learning disabilities experience more factors related with the development of mental health which usually include the negative attitudes, communication problems, poor social network or interactions and poor self esteem. However, it is overtly evident that the prevalence of social issues among people with the learning disabilities is high with the estimating percentage of forty to fifty percent (Hardy et al., 2007).

The people with learning disabilities are diagnosed with the poor cognitive and intelligence quotient score. The qualified psychologists administer the IQ test to examine the abilities of the person with the learning disorders such as comprehension, expression, memory, problem solving skills and abstract thinking.
