Introduction

We have visited a community in the form of group comprising 6 females and one man. The group of 7 visited the community where Gonzales family lived and struggled in order to make their both ends meet. They lacked resources, had a disabled family member and the family suffered the shortage of facilities of a good life. Precisely, the elements of poverty, social exclusion and disability existed in the community and it required maximum help and guidance so that the family could lead a good life. Some of the existing elements of the community are described in the following section.

Discussion

One of the threats posed to future generations is the environmental crisis. Its main elements are present in our societies: The destruction of natural ecosystems is one of the realities of the peoples of living in present society. In the region there is concern not only for the serious social and economic problems that currently passes by, but also by the evolution that has been experiencing the environment. Despite the attempt, the issues of poverty have become increasingly evident, and have caused stagnation and, in most cases, the deterioration in the living conditions of the population in the adjacent communities (Saito, 2003, pp.17-33).

The number of poor, defined as the segment of the population that cannot meet their basic needs, not only continues to grow: 210 million in 1997 and 220 in 2001, according to the World Bank. However, as a result of different processes to population growth, now most of the people are living under conditions of limited financial resources. The rest have come to this situation due to a progressive degradation of the socio-economic situation of their respective countries. In other between 1999 and 2000, 10 million people who were not poor fell into this situation, with all the drama that entails, as a result of unemployment, low productivity and social imbalances that tend to prevail in their countries.

This growth of poverty in Latin America has been expressly recognized by various international organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America, ECLAC, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as economists and politicians who have gone on to point out as one of the greatest threats to the future of the sub-continent. Among the main causes of this decline are both low economic growth rates that have prevailed in most of the developing countries, such as the imbalance with which societies have adapted to economic change in recent years (Caber, 2000, pp.83-97). In this sense, there is no doubt that globalization and the processes associated with it under the ways in which it has been presented far from meeting the expectations that many had about its benefits in terms of economic growth and rising living standards of the population, appears to be benefiting more industrialized countries and generating new sources of instability in the sub-continent.
