Burnout In Nurses Working At Hospitals



Abstract

A national shortage of nurse is creating high level of nurse's burnout that could possibly affect patient, adversely. This study has examined that the effect of nurse burnout on working environment and their effect on End of Life care patient satisfaction, related to ethics. Study suggest that having a break at their working time can reduce stress of burnout and guidance of ethical consideration of patient enhance patient satisfaction. Having a good adequate, proper communication, good relation with doctors is alternate option for professional nurses to improve their performance.

Introduction

Work is considered as the source of stress generally in all occupation. High cost is associated with work related stress is turn workers for absenteeism and decrease .The cost of burnout is higher than the stress because it is not only affected the wellbeing but impact of patient family (Bakker et.al, 2005). Higher level of burnout have documented health care professional that is especially related with the nursing profession. Nurses become vulnerable to the syndrome for several reasons. Enhancing satisfaction of job and avoid burnout is considered as crucial elements to maintain a high level care of patient (Stayt, 2007). Medical law has played an essential role in the facility of medical procedure and the way through which they are taking care of patient. We live in the litigious society where patient and its relatives inclined to sue health care practitioners, manufacturer of the medical equipment and related products that are not acceptable. This paper will discuss important for medical professional to understand the medical law, ethics and the protected End of Life care patient and strategies to overcome burnout.

Discussion

Study shows that there are three out of every four patient dying from the cancer have experience significant periods of pain (Beumer, 2008). There is providing a comprehensive way for dying patient that is also meaning that nurse should familiar with methods of treating distressing symptom other than the pain. This symptom includes depression, delirium, gastrointestinal, anxiety, dyspnea and asthenia that are quite common to dying experience and too often poorly managed.

Improvement in positive communication techniques that are related with the patient and their family is another area that needs to be addresses. Nurses should taking care for seriously ill or a dying patient those who are facing a complex situation that inevitably include profound suffering of human. It is could be a soul wrenching experience for the nurses that are required to watch patient on a daily basis and trying to cope up with terrible pain or suffering (Brosche, 2003). The researchers have also indicated that nurses often lack requisite knowledge and additional skills in order to manage pain more effectively despising the ethical obligation. Nurses are also reported that fear of hastening death is considered as a secondary action in patient care (Brosche, 2007).
