Parliamentary Supremacy

The doctrine of 'Parliamentary Supremacy' is defined in the constitutional laws of certain parliamentary democracies. The concept grants absolute sovereignty to the legislative body under the constitutional law. According to the doctrine, the parliament has supreme authority over government institutions as well as judicial and executive bodies (Young, 2009). The concept of parliamentary democracy is similar in essence to the 'Rule of Law' which is a term phrased by A. V. Dicey, a British Jurist of the 19th century.
