Parents Incarceration On Children's Academic Performance And Achievement

Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Incarcerated Parents” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “parents in prison” and its relation with “their children's upbringing and educational performance”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “parents that have been put to jail or are in prison” and tries to gauge its effect on “the relationship that builds with their offspring”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “disturbed relationships between children and incarcerated parents” and tries to describe the overall effect of “parents in jail” on “the academic performance of children”.

Research Setting

The paper encompasses all those factors that are responsible for the outcomes and impacts of parents' incarceration over the performance, development of growth of children and their thought process, which are visible over the passage of time.

Statement of the Problem

The problem statement for this study undertaken is 'Problems encountered by children after incarceration and captivity of parents.'

Research Question/Objectives

The research objectives that shall encompass in the study and that which shall be answered include:

-Role of parents in growth of children

-Role of children to help remove clashes between parents



Definition of Terms

The terms that shall be discussed with reference to context of this study are children, parents, incarceration, custody, imprisonment, etc.

Delimitations of the Study

The rationale and significance of the study shall help us identify the work and purpose of making effective change in the course of incarcerated parents and will aim towards the relationships between the children and their parents who have been kept in confinement.

Ethical Concerns

Researcher is fully aware of the ethical issues involved in this work. Responsibility for all procedures and ethical issues related to the project rests with the principal investigators.
