The statistical tools that include hypothesis testing and confidence intervals that allow to extrapolate a population considerations of important parameters that are means and standard deviations are known as the parametric statistical tests.

The concept of non-parametric method is still subject to discussion by theorists of statistics. Intuitively, and as the name suggests, these are methods where the entities under study are not the parameters of a population. The application of these techniques requires no assumptions about the distribution of the population from which it has withdrawn samples for analysis. Contrary to what happens in the parametric statistical tests where the variables are, in most cases interval. The nonparametric tests are extremely interesting for the analysis of qualitative data (Huck, 2012).
