Introduction

Riordan Manufacturing is an international plastic manufacturer having around 550 employees whose annual earning sum up to around 46 million. Riordan manufacturing is owned by Riordan Industries, a fortune 1000 organization which is initially based in San Jose California with revenue of more than a billion. The company was founded by Dr. Riordan who is a chemistry professor in the year 1991. Since that time the organization has shown remarkable progress in the field of plastic manufacturing and is meeting the milestones at a great pace and has been expanded to Michigan, Georgia, and China. In the year 1992, the name of the company was changed to Riordan manufacturing named after its founder Dr. Riordan when he bought a fan making plant in Pontiac, Michigan (Apollo Group, 2012).

The expansion of the operation of an organization on the basis of technological tools has become very common in today's business world. Many of the international and national organization are shifting their framework towards automated systems based on information technology and security based system. In this report we will discuss the technological impact on the operations of an organization working in a global environment. We will also address the consequences of immature cyber security and how the security of information systems of an organization can be enhanced.

Discussion

Influence exists between Organizations and information systems. Managers build information systems in order to work in the best interest of organizations and their businesses. Therefore, it is essential that organizational members show some flexibility in accepting the changes being implemented, so that they can benefit from the latest technologies in the best possible manner. There exists a complex relationship between organizations and information technology, which is constantly being affected by a number of factors such as decisions taken by the management, organizational structure, external and internal business environment, business processes, culture, and politics. These are shown in the figure below.

In order to stay competitive in a constantly changing business environment, Riordan needs to remain current with the latest technology, recent industry developments, and attend to the service requirements of its customers. According to Riordan's CIO and other staff members, Riordan's telecommunication and data networking systems necessitate upgrading to better support the company's recent and future growth needs (Information Systems, Organizations, and Strategy, n.d.)

As an information technology (IT) assistant project director of the company the task which is assigned to me is very of complex and critical nature. Since the company is looking forward to initiate another production unit in Seattle, Washington therefore there is immense need of updating and installing the Information Technology based infrastructure of the company for the new office.
