HIPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was introduced by Congress of United States of America in 1996 and was signed by the Bill Clinton. It ensured that even when people were switching through jobs, or changing their careers, they would still have the right to utilize the quality health coverage (Friedman, 2006).
Background: The HIPAA privacy rule gives the patients equal rights over their health related records including the rights to obtain a copy or to examine it along with making corrections on the basis of their requests.
