Thesis Statement

Mexican Americans also known as Chicanos and Latinos faced many hardships in the US. Whether it may be gender discrimination, political, social & racial. The Mexican American also started movements in order to get there rights on living in US. The Chicanos were mistreated and they had to fight for their own rights.

Societal and the Fair dealing and reactions of the Chicanos and the Latinos.

Chicanos Life standards: Chicano fight for better living standards and to avail all the rights on the job and the union.

Unorganized Workers: Large numbers of unorganized workers.

Aggression: Aggression in their attitudes due to poor life standards.

Chicana Movement:

History: Chicana is a Mexican-American lady who is brought up in the US, having a minor status in her own homeland, so it's hard to get a place where majority of ethnic groups exist. She led Chicana movement in US.

Challenges: Chicano Movement challenged the existing ethnic stereotype of US

Mexican Rights: This movement challenged about the Mexican rights.

Political and social equality: Also Fights for political and social equality in the United States (Cotera, 2007).

Problems in Urban Latino.

Educational Issues

Language Barrier: The Mexican American children faced language barrier issues as they were bilingual and this was resulting in the poor performance of these youths but the main problem was the children who could only understand Spanish, as all the instructions were passed down in English.

Banned Spanish Speech in Classrooms: It got even worse in the Southwest because they entirely banned Spanish speech in the classrooms and they could get punished for breaking the rules and regulations.

Cultural Differences

Discouragement for Mexican American: This inferiority kept increasing creating cultural differences discouraging the ambitions of most Mexican American.

Cultural Clashes: Due to cultural clashes most of Mexican American youth stayed uneducated resulting in poverty.
