CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

The rationale of this chapter is to facilitate the reader with a brief synopsis related to the selected research topic and also present the reason and aim behind this extensive research study. This chapter is comprises of the background of the problem, rationale of the study, aims and objectives, research questions and finally the framework of the study.

Background of the study

The diverse teams are of great importance these days as multi-tasking is considered as an important factor for all of the team like a production team should have an idea of how to work like a sales team. In other words, it provides a team competitive edge over other teams as this team helps the organization in achieving the overall productivity for the organization. Understanding, appreciating, managing and maximizing the incentives and benefits of distinction can be the effective ways by which an organization can encourage diverse teaming culture. Managing globally is not an easy task for a business for this an organization needs highly diverse teams, which are highly skilled, motivated and focused to the overall organizational mission. An organization, which has operations in other parts of the counties and it is managed in all parts of the world comes under the global management context. In the past it was not so typical for an organization to manage its operations as the concept of globalization was not there but now it is considered as an opportunity for an organization that holds global business.

The rationale of the study is to identify the purpose of diverse teams in global management and to find out the ways by which teams can be converted to diverse teams. The study will help in identifying the value of diverse teams in the modern businesses.
