Origin of Evil

Thesis Statement

The origin of evil arises from the activity of an unseen creature called the devil or Satan.

Concept of Evil

Physical and moral evils are an inevitable part of life in this world. The general human experience of evil is a consequence of the fall when God punished human beings for their disobedience (Genesis 3), and the Bible regularly affirms that God remains sovereign over all evil practices while maintaining that he himself is incapable of moral evil. Though experiencing God's punishment is unpleasant, it does not necessarily mean either that God is evil or that he is the author of evil. The Bible does not provide specific answers to questions about the relationship between the goodness of God and the origin of evil or about the nature of evil, though it does indicate that human experience of evil is closely related to the freedom to choose between right and wrong (Margaret, 2010, Pp. 92).

Indication of the Bible Regarding Evil

The Bible also indicates that evil arises from the activity of an unseen person called the devil or Satan. God responds to evil in several ways. First, he holds everyone responsible for their evil actions, and employs a mixture of justice and mercy to maintain a sense of order in human society, even though his use of human beings to do so sometimes results in lawlessness. Second, he is able to make use of evil actions by reversing their intended effects and making them conform to his purposes, as demonstrated supremely by the cross. Third, he has already defeated evil's ultimate power by fully confronting its agony and injustice at the cross, and he will finally destroy it completely at Christ's second coming (Paul, 2000, Pp. 28).

What is Evil?

Evil is not taught, or developed, but is born inside of us all and it is our task to control it. So does thinking something mean or unpleasant make you evil? In my eyes it does. If you look back to the source of an unpleasant or morally bad thought, the most likely candidates would be anger, frustration, etc. Put bluntly, emotions. But how can a person be born without emotions? They can't, but they do have the ability to recognize right from wrong.

What distinct Human from other creaters?

This ability is what separates us from the animals; we don't live on instinct, but rather on freewill. Therefore, humans are blamed for our wrong doings. Everyone has a fragment of evil or good within themselves. They are judged by the way they use it. Every country, even the so called free countries have laws with which society must revolve around. If the nature of man was good, we could dispense of all the enforcers of law, and forget about ritual principals. But because man is generally evil, we must honor the principals (Bernstein, 2002, Pp. 45).
