Organizational sustainability

Introduction

Organizational sustainability is a complex yet very important terminology in the corporate arena of the world. By sustainable organization we mean any business entity that focuses environmental sustainability and execute strategies that lead the society to a cultural and economic set of benefits through their profits and other ways. Therefore, the term organizational sustainability is defined as “the organizations that seek to plan and implement sustainability through rendering cultural and economic benefit to the society by fulfilling environmental responsibility”.

In the eyes of business community, as well as, societies; it is core responsibility of the company to pay back to the society, as well as, the benefit reaped by the business operating in a particular society has to be shared between the business organization and the society. It pertains to the inclusion of environmental and social motive benefits in the overall corporate strategy, business strategy and operational strategy.

It is a very important and essential concept in the operational management of businesses in the present day world, and therefore, organization that show responsibility through inclusion of such motives in their overall planning and implementation. The inclusion does not merely benefit the organization but also benefits the people around. It adds to the profits of the firm, whereas, lessens the overall cost of the firm. The organizations with a prompt sustainability planning and implementation lead to better reputation of the organization, as well as, long term success and higher sales of the products. In addition to that, such organizations are often granted tax cuts and interest rate discounts due to their role in the society (Turan, 2010).

Organizational sustainability is essential to integrate in seven different facets of organizational existence, they include; organizational identity, financial and other system administration, long range strategic planning, long-range fund raising plan, annual operation plan, board development plan and finally staff development and organizational plan. Organizational sustainability encompasses of three different motives, discussed as under;

Ecological motives

Economic motives

Legal and regulatory motives

The paper discussed organizational sustainability; it further elaborates the field of organizational sustainability, as well as, explains the importance of the field. I t studies current dilemmas existent in the field, whereas, it studies current innovations regarding organizational sustainability. The paper further speaks how business organization builds them around organization sustainability, and studies the current technologies being used for that matter. It throws light upon the future development expected in the field, as well as, the potential threats that could occur in the business organizations preference to organizational sustainability. The conclusion recommends the tactics for developing a more innovative and sustainable set of clusters for implementing organizational sustainability (Edwards, 2011).
