Introduction

Staff planning is one of the most important procedures that have to be conducted properly before the start of any business, big or small. The aim of this paper is to offer the lending institution with the required staffing plan for the start-up of a new small business. Moreover, the plan will explain the most important and major staffing areas that are planned for the new coffee shop and are solely based up on the approved principles of human resource staffing.

Employment Relationships

An open-door policy will be adapted with the employees. The management will ensure that it relates well with the workers that includes establishing open line interaction and communication with them. Workers will be motivated to share and communicate their work-related issues and their personal issues which affect their work. Moreover, tactics such as adjusting work schedules, handling complaints and making referrals to the useful resources will also be used to relate with the employees. All the interactions will be conducted in a consistent and fair manner. Most importantly, confidentiality will be maintained at all times to inspire and win the trust of the employees (Robinson, Franklin & Wayland, 2010). This will be ensured that the workers understand the company policies. Every newly hired employee will be explained some of the rules or policies prone to misunderstandings in order to avoid unpleasant events in the future.

Avoiding Claims of Disparate Treatment

There are three main elements of the disparate treatment or three basic situations, recognized by the federal court, where the disparate treatment is acknowledged and recognized. These include discriminatory discharge, terms and condition of the employment and rejection in hiring. In order to avoid the Disparate Treatment claims, the employers must follow an explicit procedure with the documentation and must also maintain a checklist for avoiding the complaints of discrimination in the business (Muhl, 2001). In order to avoid the Disparate Treatment, the employer must keep in mind and ensure to treat all the employees fairly and equally on the basis of merit only. Moreover, any discrimination will not be observed on the basis of sex or gender, race, religious views, age, cultural differences and so forth. Hiring, recruitment, promotions, bonuses, allowances, privileges and other terms and conditions in the working environment will be granted on the basis of merit.

External Influences to Staffing

There are four major external influences on the staffing planning that include technology, labor markets, economic conditions and labor unions. The company will ensure that the economic conditions do not affect the Positive job growth and is maintained thereby expanding the job opportunities for the individuals. The company will also ensure that new jobs are always created and hence result in increase in hiring rates for both the higher- level and the entry-level jobs.
