Introduction

Oasis of Siwa was a forgotten piece of land until the EQI laid its eyes upon it and realized its potential by the 1990s. Since the company established itself on the Egyptian soil, it was able to bring a significant change in the region, its infrastructure and the life standards of its inhabitants. A number of useful projects introduced by the company played an important role in attracting the attention of many tourists and overall offering a new identity to the island as a unique tourist destination. However, the climax in such a perfect scenario is the limited control and influence on the region that the company has as opposed to the Government. Hence, it is the Government that will decide, identify and lead the direction that the Island shall take. Therefore, EQI still has a strong hold on the Siwa through a number of currently operational projects in the region. However, the company will have to face the inevitable external challenges as well.

It will be fair to say that all the projects introduced by the EQI turn out to be both useful and successful. This was only possible because of the EQI holding on to some values and principles. These principles in turn helped the country transform a place that was almost forgotten. Moreover, these factors also helped EQI to achieve maximum efficiency in their performance. The three most critical success factors for EQI include its embedded values and principles, the engagement of its stakeholders and the transparency.

The most important success factor remains the fundamental values and principles that the company follows. Since the very beginning, EQI focused on the fact that the culture and cultural heritage of the Siwa is to rich to be forgotten. Moreover, the company also analyzed the limited resources that Siwa possess that could be utilized to develop the infrastructure. Therefore, the company utilized all the local resources through the traditional methods for executing a number of their project ventures. EQI set themselves as an example for the inhabitants of Siwa by promoting the local culture and traditions and making the inhabitants realize the richness of their culture (Salem & El-Shimy, 2012). For example, EQI utilized and revived the old methods of constructions thereby using mud, rock salt blocks and palm logs.

Therefore, the various ethical values are practiced within the company to ensure the welfare of the Island's people. Hence, the healthy social image and the reputation EQI maintained outside helped it a great deal. In fact, it will be fair to say that the overall good image of EQI helped the company to engage its wide range of stakeholders within the different projects. These stakeholders include the Governments, the shareholders and creditors, the local community, the general public, the employees and the customers.
