Introduction

With rapid changes in external environment it is essential for organizations to bring changes in their internal business activities for successfully achieving their goals. Planning and managing change is considered as one of the most challenging tasks for a manager. These changes in the organization may be brought as a result of technological or cultural change for organizational development (Paton & McCalman, 2008). To remain successful it is significant for managers to plan in anticipation of change. However, while implementing change for alignment with external environment changes organizations will face certain problems and issues that need to be addressed effectively. Implementing organizational change can facilitate positive results in the long-run and will improve organization's performance. It is also essential for managers to determine that managing organizational change is a complex task (Pasmore, Woodman & Shani, 2010).

Organizations that have implemented change have identified number of potential problems which creates an impact on success of change implementation program. Organizational development can be described as a planned organization wide effort which is managed by the top management with the purpose of increasing organization effectiveness and performance, by intervening in organization's processes with planning. The aim of organization development is to achieve long-term vision of the organization, thus to accomplish this goal it is significant for organizations to implement change for organizational development (Pasmore, Woodman & Shani, 2010). Chrysler Motors is one such organization that failed to implement changes in the organization and therefore incurred significant losses; however later after successfully implementing and managing change by overcoming the problems and issues associated with change management the company was able to achieve organizational development for organizational effectiveness and improvement in performance (Paton & McCalman, 2008).

The need for change

Change for an organization is very important as without change no organization can survive in this competitive environment. The VTI Ltd has to change, as without changing their old techniques and strategies they will continue to experience losses in the coming years as well. The company should not only focus on selling records instead, other options in the music industry should also be considered. One such option would be to engage in the online music. For that either the new team will be hired ort the existing staff will be provided training (Austin, & Ciaassen, 2008).VTI must carry on its core business of selling records in the streets but it should also focus online music. AS it has been indicated by many researches that the customers are no more interested in the records instead they prefer the online music due to its variety and less cost. VTI will not be the first company to change; there are many companies, which had to change their business models and products. IT is because if the businesses will not change than they will suffer at the end of the day. VTI has seen in the last two years that its existing records are not been sold out.
