Introduction

The overall objective of an organization is to have better relationships in which employees are able to achieve their objectives and contribute to organizational development vis-à-vis fulfilling their own objectives socially and morally. The following paper discusses a few aspects of organizational behavior and how diversity is managed within an organization.

Defining Organizational Behavior

Organizational Behavior is mainly the study about people management is carried out in the organization. It focuses towards a systematic approach of managing relationships of individuals within organization. The success of the organization rests on how well the management has made its philosophy, culture, and value structure. This leads to driving the culture of an organization which can be formal, informal or social (Iyer, n.d). The culture of the organization determines the leadership structure, objectives of the organization, communication channel and group and team dynamics. The structure then drives the organization through which employees perceive value and develop motivation by contributing to productivity and performance. The overall objectives are then achieved through organizational growth, individual development and sustainability of the organization on the whole. All these elements combine to form a structure under which organization operates. This all is studied under the head of Organizational Behavior (Iyer, n.d).

Importance of Organizational Behavior

Organizational behavior is important as it helps in understanding the communication channels through which individuals and groups interact with each other. It examines the communication pattern according to the structure of the organization. By having a greater look at the behavior and culture of the organization helps in understanding the business patterns (Iyer, n.d). These findings help in creating policies and bringing organizational change where leaders are rewarded for their useful contributions.

When leaders identify the importance of organizational behavior, they always welcome coaches that help in boosting the morale of employees and motivate individuals. For instance, coaches often help the individuals to identify differences when individuals are low on motivation and feel disconnected from the organization (Visconti, 2013). A review on organization's goals and missions and the direction of the company in addition to what rewards are given to the employees may help in making the employees motivated once again and they move towards the path of organizational success.

The main goal of any organization is to be successful and achieve profitability. Earlier, organizations placed importance on numbers and the ways to get there and the people who helped in achieving those numbers were rewarded. Today, this has altered as organizational behavior studies are in light (Visconti, 2013). This requires the corporation to adapt to the changes in the business environment as the markets have become more competitive. Managers today place greater importance on how employees react to different situations and manage critical conditions.
