Wal-Mart

The Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. also known as Wal-Mart, refer to an American multinational retailer corporation which primarily operates the network of large discount warehouse stores and department stores. According to the 2012 list of the Fortune Global, the company is the third largest public corporation in the world. In the present world, which has more than two million employees, Wal-Mart is also ranked as one of the biggest private employers in the world. The business run by Wal-Mart is a family-owned business, since Walton family owns and controls the company and has a stake of 48% in Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is considered to be one of the companies having the biggest worth across the globe (Troy, Mike, 2011).

It was in the year 1962 that Sam Walton established the company and incorporated it n the year 1969. The headquarters of the company is located in Bentonville, Arkansas. In the United States, Wal-Mart is also the largest grocery retailer. Wal-Mart operates more than 8,500 stores which are functional in over 15 countries, and are managed and controlled under 55 different names. In the United States, the company functions under the name Wal-Mart, and has the same name in 50 other states which also include Puerto Rico. In Mexico, the company runs under the name Walmex, in Japan as Seiyu, in the United Kingdom as Asda, and in India as Best Price. Besides this, in other countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Canada, it has various names that are used to symbolize the Wal-Mart brands. The investment of Wal-Mart outside North America have provided a blend of results: the operations of the company in South America, United Kingdom, and China are the most successful, while its other business ventures in South Korea and Germany are very unsuccessful.

Mission

Wal-Mart operates with a global mission to save people and their money in oredr to let them live a better life. This mission was envisioned by Sam Walton on the opening of his first Wal-Mart store which happened over 40 years ago (Wal-Mart, 2009). Currently, there are thousands of Wal-Mart stores globally which embed this mission and integrate it fully in their businesses. This mission and vision is a part of the corporate culture prevailing in Wal-Mart stores and impacts every part of the company while influencing all the stakeholders involving shareholders, customers, communities and the associates of the company.

Human Resource

The company, Wal-Mart, values its employees as one of its most worthy resources. The employees at the company are the organizational bridge which ties all the tactics and strategies of Wal-Mart with each other in order to ensure and guarantee the accomplishment of the aggressive goals set by the company. There are few ways in which these goals can be achieved by the executives of the company.
