This is a matrix structure in which Departments and Products are combined together. It mostly exists in large manufacturing firms, which involves many processes and various products.

Types of Business that use this Structure

There are large multinationals that use Matrix Structure like Procter and Gamble. These multinationals have to use such structure, because they manufacture various products of different product lines, hence they have to create a combination of Department and Product.

Apple uses functional structure in its organization, where different departments like software, engineering, marketing etc comes under the domain of Chairman of the Company. Apple is a value and mission directed company which aims to follow its values and mission designed by the higher management of the company (Jeffrey S. Young, William L. Simon, 2005, pp. 10-13).
