Team structure and task culture

A team within an organization is formed to achieve certain target or goal or even to solve specific problems by following the task culture. Team members are the ones who have the common interests and specializations. Team culture comprises of equal contribution by each member and accomplishment made by each team member creatively and innovatively. The team structure is based on the limited budget and timescale. The team members are empowered to make decisions for their team. In problem-solving areas, the team members are creative (moodle1.carnegiecollege.ac.uk).

Matrix structure and task culture

This structure is project oriented where the suitable resources and people are used to manage the matrix structure. Expert power influences the management spread over various cultures. The team members have high degree of control on their work where there is adaptability within the team, easy working relationships and mutual respect among team members. Matrix structure and its team culture look for the flexibility and sensitivity for the market forces within the competitive market but the product life is short. Matrix structure is common among film makers, surveyors and academics. The team members know their job, are committed and enthusiastic. The matrix structure basically focuses on various problems of the organization and the networks mutually coordinate to solve it continuously (moodle1.carnegiecollege.ac.uk).

Identify and explain which organizational structure and culture Apple had in 1990 and how it impacted on the performance of the business

The corporate culture of Apple is based on severe work ethic and non-formal work culture. The cultures of Apple ensure secrecy and have hard discipline for employees which void the rule of information sharing. The culture of Apple is power culture where the entrepreneurship style of Steve gives a personal ideology to the company and control the overall system. In 1990s, the culture of Apple Corporation was Role culture where the leaders imposed their own rules and neglected the importance of project groups. Typically, Apple follows individual culture where different individuals work united to bring innovation in their invention (Sadek, 2004 p. 43).

The personal motivational factors to work are flexible work schedules, attractive pay and fringe benefits, growth for the company in future, potential growth of hardworking and goal-oriented employees in the company, appreciation and positive feedback from the management and supervisors, decision-taking freedom and opportunities to bring solutions to organizational or work related problems.
