Introduction

Evidence is any physical object or item that is presented in court in front of the judge and other people present in the hearing of the court for the purpose of proving and convincing them about any happenings on the crime scene. According to the crime reporters or crime evidence technicians these evidences can be broadly characterized as organic or inorganic. Putting it simply organic evidence is the one which is obtained from a person or animal present on the crime scene. Inorganic evidence category covers all those items that do not come from any living thing. Organic evidences are bio degradable while inorganic are not. In the context of chemistry, organic evidences are those whose composition includes carbon and hydrogen content. While inorganic evidences are those that do not contain these and mostly consist of non bio degradable materials. The findings from the crime scene that are examined in the forensic laboratory are mostly organic substances.

Strengths and Weaknesses of the Organic and Inorganic Evidences

Evidences whether organic or inorganic obtained from the crime scene have great significance in solving any case. Each type of evidence has its own strengths and weaknesses. Organic evidences are considered more credible during the prosecution of the case in court. This is so because these evidences ultimately reach to the DNA testing. This is a known fact that the DNA testing and matching if carried out with extreme care can make a great difference in the final verdict of the hearing. One problem while dealing with organic evidences is that they should be analyzed using proper and authentic procedures by the experts.
