Reducing caries experience in children

Summary

The purpose of the program is to assess and evaluate the measures taken by the North Miami Beach Public school to reduce caries experience in children 6-7 years of age by applying sealant program recommended by Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To the role of the evaluators is to identify and investigate the reasons which are responsible for the increase in tooth decay or cavities among young children and to figure out the way to resolve this issue before it escalates any further.

The evaluation approach will be qualitative in nature; the evaluation team will be visiting classroom under the supervision of the class teacher in order to collect data from its target audiences. Once the data is collected they will be analyzing it without any bias and try to come up with realistic findings in their evaluation report.

Once the evaluation report has been finalized, it should be presented to the concerned parties which includes the parents, school administration and teachers, members of CDC, educationists, journalists and other individual and social groups who might use these findings for further the interest of the children in schools and to take certain steps which could reduce carriers among the young and innocent students across the united states and globally.

Program Background

The issues tooth decay or cavities are increasing in North Minami Beach Public school in particular and the rest of the American schools in general. Children from all the socio-economic and geographically dispersed background are complaining carries problem to their parents who are not able to provide any permanent solution to resolve this issue. The reason for the surge in child cavity is the consumption of sugary eatable by the children in the form of candies, chocolates, cookies and many more sweet substances (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).

Children under the ages of 6 and 7 are considered to be most affected by this usage of these sugary edibles. They are young and innocent, so it is quite easier for them to be persuaded by the sugar rated products advertisement on TV and other mediums. The children at this age has no idea about what is good or bad for their health; therefore they will eat anything which is in line with their taste or eaten by their heroes in cartoon programs and movie (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).

Parents and the school administration especially teachers are responsible to guide students about the negative effects of chewing sweet edibles, but they need to do more in order to reduce carries experience among their children (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).

The sealant program recommended by CDC is an effective program for the stated school to reduce the impact of carriers in school.
