In today's world there is not a single person who does not know about the successful and influential woman Oprah Winfrey. Her success story has long charmed American housewives, and Oprah herself has become a symbol of the American dream. Oprah Gail Winfrey, widely recognized as just 'Oprah' was born on January 29, 1954, in the small city of Kosciusko, Mississippi. According to her, she was an unwanted child. Her mother was only eighteen years old, who was not ready for family life and the role of a caring home. She was the illegitimate child of a teenage mother, and up till 6 years of age, she lived with her grandparents in a farm setting. She was then sent to live with her mother and two siblings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she grew to be an unruly teenager (Krohn, 2008). From the age of nine she claimed to have been raped and sexually assaulted by her male relatives and friends of her mother's. His father, who later played a major role in the development Winfrey, for some reason currently, is not mentioned in the stories of Oprah.
