Introduction

Operations management is about the way organizations produce goods and services. Every book you borrow from the library, every treatment you receive at the hospital, every service you expect in a store, everything you wear, eat, sit on, use or read — all have been produced by someone. The essential nature of Operations Management is concerned with organizing the process of getting things done. An operation is a transforming process converting a set of resources (INPUTS) into services and goods (OUTPUTS). The input resources may be raw materials, information, or even the customer themselves. These resources are transformed into the final goods or services by way of other transforming resources — the facilities and staff of the operation.



In the business world there are many absolutely essential components for a thriving operation. Some may argue that trade, production and / or sale of the most significant part of any business, but after studying the technique of operative management, it was found that the foundation of any business process. Operations management includes all aspects of business method and connects them a resourceful effective procedure. In alignment to stand out and be the total market the company wants to have powerful management operations. Operation of administrative work can be productive in times of cost, cost, reliability, flexibility and responsiveness. This term paper would give a brief interpretation of the Operation Manager (OM), the significance of operational management, the objectives of the manager, the strategic conclusions and components for productive operations. OM allows the company to be more competitive by reducing costs is meaningless to do when assets have been squandered. OM allows business to operate more efficiently. Management of operations integrate all aspects of the business process. It was once said: All the components of the scheme should be collected with a quote on all other components, as in some sense, all the components of painting a car. Like any other car trouble on the one hand to cooperate properly with other components to the disorganization of the whole and renders it incapable of reason.

Overview of Operations Management Functions

Operations Management involves a lot of different disciplines. To be effective, Operations interfaces with many different disciplines within an organization. The following diagram provides a few examples. Production and service operations have a central role in most firms (services and manufacturing). They typically account for 70 - 80% of an organization's assets, expenditure and people. A major part of total revenue and capital investment expenditure is spent on production operations.



Importance of Operations Management

Managing the operations is concerned with conception, operation, and commander of the conversion circuit which receives inputs of assets and produces the output of goods and services required by clients (Naylor 1996.p.9). Operations management can benefit organizations in the following ways:
