In precise words, operations management involves planning, scheduling, and controlling diverse activities to transform inputs into outputs. A variety of factors have resulted in the advancement of operations management. These factors include the rapid increase in population, technological change, and increased consumerism. Operations management has undergone several changes in its structure and implementation. In modern operations management, the focus is on technological innovation, customer satisfaction, product quality, and use of the latest models for better decision making.

Emirates Airlines in United Arab Emirates (UAE) based airline with its headquarters in Dubai. Its parent company is Emirates group and it is owned wholly by the government of Dubai. Emirates Airline is among largest airlines in Asia which is operating with more than 3,400 flights per week from Dubai which is its hub from Dubai International Airport. Emirates Airline operates its flights in more than 150 cities of 74 countries across the globe. Emirates airline is effectively undertaking its strategies as compared to its competitors. However, business needs to focus on its opportunities and threats to survive in future. Emirates airline can expand its business by focusing on emerging markets. It is to mention here that Emirates airline also need to consider the threats that is faced by the substitute product of the business and in near future this can be volatile for airline industry. Therefore, business needs to focus on technologies those results in low cost operations of business and airline industry can sustain with this type of competition.

In every business either it offers product or services, there are set of operations that are present in every organization that makes these services and products at the heart of each organization.

The term operations management refers to the collection of complex management activities that are practiced by the company in organizing, leading, planning and controlling of operations of the business (Chase & Zhang, 1998, pp. 663-667).

It is to mention here that organizations practices operations management on the basis of how organization is planned, designed, controlled and organized in business. In addition to this operations management explains how inputs can be turned into output (Waters, 1999, pp.1).

In the recent years, organizations have started to put more emphasis on operations management. It is because of the increasing international competition and changing customer expectations.
