The National Electronic Health Mandate (EHR) Mandate
The promotion of electronic health records is the current focused of the health care system. These records are the electronically generated data bases of every individual patient that stores all the necessary information regarding the patient disease and the therapeutic regimen being provided. These electronic records have been proved to be better than the paper based electronic records as the y provides better accessibility, lesser extent of deterioration and patient confidentiality. The misunderstanding of hand writing, real time to write the clinical notes and other errors can be avoided by using the electronic health records. This is perhaps, the reason that these records have gained a lot of popularity in past few years.
President Obama supported the idea of converting all the existing paper based records into electronic data bases (Admin, n.d). The electronic health record mandate is the national program that ensures the implementation of this process with quality and appropriateness. However, the concept was initiated by President Bush, who tried to implement a process in which the electronic health records should be made accessible for everyone. The national electronic health mandate is working to achieve these goals.
