The phenomenon that has played a pivotal role in escalating the living standards, civilizations and the methods of executing processes and procedures of the mankind is the advent of technology.

Amongst the exhibits of technology in this modern world and our region is that of offshore drilling. The phenomenon of offshore drilling entails the mechanisms of drilling a substantial wellbore/hole via the bed of a sea or ocean. The purpose behind executing such a mechanical process is to look out for the hydrocarbon, natural gas or numerous other natural resources such as minerals, oil and much more. However, the process of executing the offshore drilling has been attributed to dire censure with the time. Both the proponents and the opponents of this issue have indulged themselves into endless arguments regarding this activity being valid or unneeded and harmful to the environment. Moreover, if this activity should be completely banned, and an alternative of this activity should be found on priority basis of the offshore drilling, or the offshore drilling is extremely lucrative and essential for the discovery of substantial minerals and further progression.

Problem statement

This research will primarily be a descriptive study, apart from the main functions of offshore drilling; it will mainly focus on the consequences this activity entails, both with respect to the benefits it entails, as well as the detrimental effects it bears. After thoroughly discussing both the sides, this study will opt for a decisive approach regarding the favor or disapproval of the offshore drilling in this region.

Purpose of the study

The study's prime purpose is to deliver to those questioning and argumentative minds the real logic and the rationale behind the execution of such activity, and why the establishment is persistent over pursing it, and why the opponents have chosen to oppose this procedure. Moreover, after thoroughly analysing both the sides, this study's purpose is to present yet another viewpoint regarding the detrimental affects or benefits this activity endures.

Research design

The research that will be primarily undertaken for this study, shall constitute of not only the qualitative and qualitative practice, but will also introduce the practical research approach. It will chiefly include the literary matter, pivotal interviews and vital interaction with the associated figures (engineers, environmentalist, business personnel and many more), who possess vast knowledge regarding this pressing matter.
