Well drawn characters and brilliant comic dialogue, the novel suffers from an inconsistent outcome alarmist. The protagonists are two migrant workers who leave for California in the thirties in search of work as porters bags in any farm. One of them, Lennie is a mentally retarded big, hard worker and a child's heart, but intended to hurt around him for his inability to control his immense physical strength. George is the wise and faithful comrade, who cared for her late aunt's mandate. A stroke Lennie likes soft things and so for mice, rabbits and dog puppies to keep them in their hands, but their strength causes more sooner or later kill them. The two get jobs on the farm of a former boxer named Curley, whose wife is shown as an animal lust for contact with any bracero who wants to risk the potential wrath of her husband. Fortunately, George is well aware that we must not enter those rags and comfort from time to time in the brothel and is dedicated only to work and watch over Lennie. It encourages the project to buy a small plot to grow and solve your life and that of Lennie, and get him to join an old man who works on the farm and just received compensation for an accident which left him crippled .

Also a black cripple who despise almost all tempted shown by the project and that although he is convinced that there is more than the typical dream that all laborers are white and that is never really done before because they always spend money on gambling and brothels.
