Abstract

A scientific fact: Water and oil do not mix. With that said, the ocean's users are trying to prove this point wrong. Ocean pollution can be caused by many different factors. In early civilization, people used the ocean for disposal of food waste, trash, and sewage; due to cost and convenience. People were not the only producers. There was also the after math of the Industrial Age that introduced a significant amount of wastes into the oceans; chemical runoffs into the rivers, atmospheric, pipeline leakage, construction waste, offshore mining, oil and gas exploration, and shipboard waste disposal (Ocean Dumping). The paper will briefly address regulations. Despite governmental regulations, history shows that the ocean has become a dumping ground for people and industry. The dumping has produced devastating effects on the oceanic habitat, economic factors, and weather. The primary focus will be on the current BP oil spill in the Gulf; addressing the cause of the oil spill, along with the BP Corporation and United States governments' response and clean-up plan. In closing, it will provide an overview of ocean pollution, why it is necessary to take steps to prevent and preservation, and suggestions on how to accomplish those tasks.

Ocean Pollution: BP Oil Spill

Introduction

As a result, BP's oil spill disaster begs the question: "What went wrong?" Depth response can take several months to learn, but the simple answer is now obvious. British Petroleum to use a small security measure, as it drilled this offshore oil drilling. Furthermore, the adoption obtained from the U.S. Interior Mineral Management Service has been, at best, conflicted.

Mineral Management Service accepts all offshore drilling and proposals assigned to supervise the promise of danger to the environment. They are even more blame for the increase in the national treasury through the expansion and installation of royalties from offshore oil extraction efforts. Bonuses are paid for the collection and transfer of department goals. This is important confrontation in an effort to MMS (Walsh 2010).In fact, it is important to oil spills from offshore drilling disasters are rare. The biggest spill in the Gulf of Mexico, former disaster was 31 years ago, when the infamous Ixtoc also blustered from spilling 140 million gallons of crude oil in the southern part of the Persian Gulf. Interestingly enough, that the spill was a reduction of environmental impacts. Complacency on its obligations of supervision is likely performance of the function in the problem. (Www.buzzle.com)

Safety engineers generally design multiple levels of security measures in their projects. Business accountants usually do everything possible to reduce the charges bare minimum to increase profits. In the case of this particular task, a lonely process of drilling the body was designed, rather than the use of safe procedures, double-hull. This reduction procedure may be assisted in the problem. In addition, the inconsistent accounts give a clue that some of the security protocols were ignored. (Www.buzzle.com / Articles / ocean pollution)
