Occupy Wall Street Movement

Introduction

At the call of the magazine “Adbusters” protesters opposed to banks and economic methods applied were invited to gather at Zuccotti Park near Manhattan in New York on September 17, 2011 (Cobbett and Germain, 2012). The movement began in this place then spread in many cities in the United States. But see the views of these compound movement protesters who consider themselves represent 99% of the U.S. population. Like all social movements, the Occupy Wall Street movement (OCW) has roots political, economic and social which allowed it to win the sympathy of a large segment of American society.

Moral implications

The movement began in three views. The first is the sense of joy, in the sense that the opposition forces and currents of Americans struggling with many domestic problems, feel imbued with joy, a reaction to U.S. policies. This joy can be expressed in an exaggerated way, but it really exists. The second view is a reaction opportunistic within the United States. Both Democratic and Republican fractions are trying to exploit this trend. Through weak layers of movement, the Democrats tried to kidnap him (Cobbettn and Germain, 2012). Republicans also wanted to do the same. But their efforts were doomed to failure, because it seems that the groups involved in the movement “Occupy Wall Street” are able to identify perfectly the intentions of politicians to exploit the movement (Wallerstein, 2011). They have so far managed to maintain their independence from politicians. But the third reaction demanded the return of their rights. The protesters believe that their civil rights were violated and that the movement would seek their return. In reality it would be a revolt against dictatorships financial (Cobbettn and Germain, 2012). The financial and banking institutions are indeed no previous become so powerful since the Reagan mandate. The movement decries bank management. While the protest in Brooklyn still cannot be compared with those of the Puerta del Sol in Spain, Tahrir in Egypt, Jerusalem in Israel or Athens in Greece, to name some of the many who have leaned on the world in recent times, it has the virtue and generate imitative effects in several cities of the union, to put on the agenda the discussion of issues that point to the model as greed, usury, bad practices to those more substantive and the role of government, opportunity gap, social cohesion and the kind of democracy we want (Lubin, 2012). The website of “Occupy Wall Street” clearly expresses this by saying that his goal is “heard the voice of 99% of the country and not the 1% that is enriching.

Economic

In fact, the main objective of the association Adbusters call was to ask President Barack Obama to “ordain a presidential commission to end the influence of money on the representation (the people) to Washington. The movement has set itself objectives: the fight against the evils of the capitalist system, corruption, law firms and the seizure of high finance on the state. President Barack Obama has declared October 18, 2011 that he understood the anger ...
