Eating Out and Advanced in Food Processing

During the last few years, researchers have noticed an increase in the obesity trends in the United States. When conducting the study, researchers found that there are a number of factors that have resulted in these trends. It depicts that we cannot blame any factor for the increasing obesity in the United States. One of the most vital forces that have resulted in increased obesity includes perceptions of social classes. The society of the United States has been characterized by different strata. In each stratum, the perceptions of food are different. For instance, in the upper stratum, it is believed that the abundance of food depicts superiority. People who belong to the upper strata mostly consume fast food, and participate in different eating contests. The eating contests and holiday meals have also contributed towards the increased obesity in the United States (Forth & Carden-Coyne, 2005).

The changing structure of the society of the United States has also resulted in increasing obesity. The most significant impact of these changes is on the role of women. With the passage of time, the number of working women is increasing. The role of women has changed from doing household work to seeking a career. In the modern America, a majority of women are career oriented. These women leave their homes and families to seek a job. In addition, there is an increase in the number of single women and teenage mothers who need a job to provide better care for their children. It appears from all these situations that women, in the modern America, cannot focus on preparing a meal for the family. Fast food has provided these families with the best substitute. As a result of this change, the trend of eating out is prospering.

The trend of eating out and consuming fast food has been increased in the United States. It is not justified to blame obesity on consuming high-calorie food. It is because between 1992 and 1997, the consumption of high-fat food by Americans decreased in America. Nevertheless, at the same time, obesity in America increased. When trying to identify the reasons, researchers realized that a sedentary lifestyle is another vital factor that is contributing towards increased obesity in the United States (Still, 2007).
