Introduction

Obesity is one of the greatest concerns of the global world in the recent era. The changing lifestyles and the inclusion of technology have lead to the concept of obesity around the world. Obesity is a condition in which the weight of a person becomes excessive, the condition known as overweight. The overweight or obese condition occurs with the excessive accumulation of the fat inside the body that pertains to the risky conditions of the health. The measure of obesity is usually done through the BMI which is the body mass index of the body. It measures the weight of a person according to the height of the person. If a person possesses a body mass index of thirty or more than the person is said to be an overweight or obese person. More specifically, a person with a body mass index of twenty five is considered to be overweight (Rozowski et al., 2005).

However, a person with a body mass index of thirty f above is considered to be having a condition of obesity which is more severe than the overweight condition because it leads to severe health conditions and the body becomes vulnerable to the serious diseases. The obesity in people is a major cause of chronic diseases such as cancer, cardio vascular diseases and diabetes. The societal conditions also affect the body weight and lead to the condition of the obesity. Previously, the condition of obesity was present among the people of developed or high income countries. However, the condition of obesity has increased in other countries with an urban social setting (Popkin & Gordon-Larsen, 2004).

Obesity and its Consequences around the world

Where a large number of world populations are combating with the condition of malnutrition, there is a large number of populations around the world that is suffering from the condition of obesity brought about by over eating and accumulation of fat in the arteries (McLellan, 2002). According to World Health Organization, one of the leading factors of deaths around the world is the conditio0n of obesity. In 2008, obesity has lead to the deaths of around 2. 8 million people around the world. It is considered to be the fifth leading factor that leads to the death and severe health conditions of people around the world (McLellan, 2002). The world reports on the estimate of overweight people around the world are estimated to be 1. 46 billion. Among them around 502 million people are considered to be suffering from obesity (McLellan, 2002).

The condition of obesity is now sweeping from the high income group people and countries to the low and middle level income countries. It leads to the fact that overweight or obesity is a serious condition just as the condition of malnutrition around the world. The unequal distribution of food around the world can be associated with the conditions of malnutrition and obesity throughout the world.
